Full description

The font in the parish church of St. Simon and St. Jude is made of Thorverton trap, a scoriated stone of abnormal shape; originally a cushion bowl which has been planed-down. Lower part of bowl may have been cut away. Lead-lined with pewter basin inside. Cylindrical shaft on square plinth. Norman. Other details: Plate 4.

Simple font of c1200. Built of volcanic stone, it has a cushion bowl which has since been planed down. Cylindrical shaft and 19th century square plinth. Other details: Provisional List.
