Ash house at Shilston manor. An ash house in the grounds of Shilston manor has been restored with a grant from the Dartmoor National Park committee, and is now open to the public on private application to the owner.


Department of Environment, 1988, Drewsteignton, 45 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV336831.

Ash house at Shilstone. Probably 18th century. Granite stone rubble. Circular in plan with a conical corbelled roof made of slabs of granite. The ash house contains a doorway facing south-east and a loading hatch window facing south-west.

Ash house approximately 6 metres south-west of Shilstone farmhouse was Listed on 4th march 1988. This interesting agricultural building forms part of a group with Shilstone farmhouse and its farmbuildings in an unusually attractive location. Other details: LBS Number 94857.

Circular structure shown on English Heritage's Listed Buildings layer on MapInfo to the south of Shilstone farmhouse. The historic maps show the circular stucture approximately 20 metres to the south-west of Shilstone farmhouse.
