Full description

Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV1142.

Foredown lodge, maddacombe hill. Limekiln. Rectangular, flat, limestone frontage without forecourt. Original height unknown. Detailed description on worksheet. Modern forecourt built in front of kiln which is now used for hay storage. Quarry mostly destroyed in modern works. Access situated c.100m from road and access track destroyed by subsequently built house and kennels. Existed in 1838. On tithe map marked as 399 claywood kiln. Still in production in 1890, marked "limekiln" on map. Out of use by 1905. Marked on map as "old limekiln".(worksheet).
