Full description

Pollard, S. H. M., Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV96893.

Flints first found by kirwan in 1871, though he did not consider that they had been worked.(kirwan). Flints from the 1961/1964 excavations formed a homogeneous assemblage, being of 'western' neolithic type, comparable to those from hembury (st10sw/14), and dated by analogy to the last quarter of the 4th millennium bc. A total of 797 flints were recovered, which included cores, struck flakes, leaf-shaped arrowheads, "laurel-leaf" flints, knives, sickle components, burins, piercers, scrapers. Also worked chert.(pollard).
