Summary

The Wolborough Parish Chest dated 1612 with the names of the rector and churchwarden of the time. The chest, however, may be much older. It was found in St. Leonard's Tower and is now in Newton Abbot Town Hall.

Full description

Unknown, 1982, Weighty Treasure, 7 (Article in Serial). SDV348891.

Wolborough Parish Chest. Found in St. Leonard's Tower and now in Newton Abbot Town Hall. The chest has eight locks and is dated 1612 with the names of the rector and churchwarden of the time. The chest, however, may be older, the date referring to the date it was repaired and given to the church. Other details: Wolborough Parish File.
