Summary

A possible prehistoric enclosure is visible as cropmark banks and ditches on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards and as earthwork banks and ditches on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2016, to the north of Lower Voaden, Bratton Clovelly.

Vis=23/3/1998 (robinson) site lies on the end of a w facing spur, on a gentle w slope. N, e + s sides are visible as a massive but very ploughed-out scarp (dprfp).

A single banked enclosure roughly 74m x 55m is visible on aerial photos (p1-3). It has small breaks in its north edge and an apparent enctrance 4m wide along its SE corner. Parts of an outer ditch are visible running parallel with the west and east edges of the enclosure. The site has been digitally plotted as part of the National Mapping Programme.
