Full description

South West Heritage Trust, 1838-1848, Digitised Tithe Maps and Transcribed Apportionments, A262 (Cartographic). SDV359954.

Tor Hill is depicted on the Tithe Map. Farmhouse is central, aligned north-south, with long, narrow building to the west, and three smaller, rectangular buildings and a pond shown to the east of the dwelling.

'Torhill' is mentioned in the recovery rolls of 1661 and was probably the home of Richard atte Torre who appears in the lay Subsidy rolls of 1333.

Modern map shows little of the original farm has survived, apart from the Listed farmhouse and a small structure to the south-west. Northern part of the farm is now dominated by large agricultural buildings.
