Summary

The settlement at Beardon was mentioned in Domesday. Farmstead is depicted on the Tithe Map. Also known as 'Beardone', 'Burydon' and 'Bearden' in the past. Layout of farm remained largely unchanged until the mid-late 20th century when some large farm buildings were constructed.

Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

Higher Bearden depicted on the tithe map; 972 on the Peter Tavy apportionment ('house and courtlage'-yard). The dwelling is at the south of the site, with two other small buildings on the east and northern sides of the courtyard.
