Mid Devon District Council, 2023, 23/01695/FULL (Planning Application). SDV366044.

Reports submitted in support of a planning application for the demolition of agricultural buildings and the construction of five new dwellings, indicate that the farmstead is currently vacant but was last used for agricultural purposes. Although the current agricultural buildings could be converted, the proposed development is considered to be a more efficient re-use of a brownfield site. Photos show that the farm buildings proposed for demolition are modern.

Walls, S., 2024, Archaeological evaluation trenching on land at Frogmire Farm, Sandford, Crediton, Devon (Report - Evaluation). SDV366006.

The footings of two 20th century buildings/structures and evidence of a still in part extant former bank boundary were explosed during an archaeological trench evaluation which was undertaken prior to the demolition of the existing farm buildings and the construction of five dwellings. The footings are likely to relate to the use of part of the site as a sawmill. A brick and concrete tank for dipping timbers in tar was also exposed. No features or finds of any greater antiquity were identified. If these were formerly present, they have likely been landscaped away during the construction of modern farm buildings and yards.

Ordnance Survey, 2024, Mastermap 2024 (Cartographic). SDV365834.

Comparison with the first and second edition Ordnance Survey maps show many of the historic farm buildings to have been demolished. Modern buildings are shown on the site of a former orchard.
