The Dewerstone granite quarry was worked for the particularly fine granite present on the site. It was served by a trackway.

Four main quarries (shown on os map) are located at SX53546387, SX53686390, SX53596380 and SX53736406. Crane bases survive in first two. Quarries were active in 1860s.
