Reichel, O. J., 1914, The Hundred of Tavistock in Early Times, 223,224,229-230 (Article in Serial). SDV8646.

Thornbury. The village has probably evolved from the medieval manor called "Thornbire" 1241, which was owned by the abbot of Tavistock. The holders in the 12th, 13th and 14th centuries are given.
