Pomphleet. Mentioned in a 1241 list of fees of the abbot of tavistock as "poghelippe". At the time of the domesday survey it formed part of the manor of tavistock owned by the abbot. The farm probably represents the survival of a small medieval estate (reichel). Appears as poghelippe in testa de nevil and as pouile in the sydenham damerel court roll of 1685 (alexander). Mid 17th century records show that pockalypp was then the property of the tremaynes of collacombe (hoskins).
