Davidson, J. B., 1883, On the Ancient History of Exmouth, 150,153 (Article in Serial). SDV337988.

The boundary between the parishes of Withycombe Raleigh and Littleham makes a right-angled turn at the end of a narrow lane (Hamilton Lane) and proceeds south-east towards the main road from Exmouth to Budleigh. It is suggested that this follows the line of the boundary of a Saxon manor described in 1042; there is a trace of a lane (Hamilton Road) which may indicate where the manor ditch formerly ran. However, the ancient document gives the bearings as 'straight east to the ridgeway'. The estate, which was granted by King Edward to Ordgar, is thought to equate with the modern parish of Littleham.
