West Ash or Ash, was Aissa in Domesday. Before the conquest it was held by Letmar or Leimar, who could go to what lord he liked. After the conquest, Ralf de Pomeray entered on this manor according to the witness of both French and English, without authority. In the Testa de Nevil in 1241, it was held by Jordan de Esse or Ash.
