Reichel, O. J., 1928 - 1938, The Hundred of Black Torrington in Early Times, 199,230,239 (Article in Monograph). SDV2105.

Tinacre, (Higher and Lower), also known as Tenacre, was a submanor of Clawton, (Clauetona) in Domesday. It was held by Juhel of Totnes. Before the conquest it belonged to Aluered, or Alured. The Testa de Nevil in 1241, records that it was held by John de Rem.
