A rectilinear double ditched enclosure, 65m x 64m, is visible on aerial photographs(p1-4). Its north side is masked by a modern field boundary. There appears to be an entrance in the internal east side, and the external ditch along this side is likely to be a later field hedge. Along the south side are two small elongated annexes each 3m wide and 15-20m long. The feature was digitally plotted as part of the National Mapping Programme. NB: this site appears to have been duplicated in the Devon SMR; it is also described under CIN 59604.

Rectilinear enclosure, probably of Prehistoric or Roman date, seen as cropmarks.
A rapid examination of air photography (1a) suggests the presence of a rectilinear enclosure (with possible evidence of recutting and an east-northeast-facing entrance), probably of Prehistoric or Roman date, visible as cropmarks c.200m south of Lower Dunscombe (citing Miller, RCHME Aerial Photo Primary Recording Project).
