In 1535 the manor of Roborough is mentioned among properties held by the Prior and convent of Tavistock Abbey as distinct from those retained by the Abbot. It had been a thegn-land acquired by the Abbot of Tavistock between 1066 and 1086, and it was mentioned in a register, drawn up in 1375, detailing the property held by the Abbot. It is not to be confused with the Roborough which Finberg identifies with the Manor of Morwell, also abbey property.
