Summary

The herepath running along the ridge of telegraph hill, it is reputed to be a roman road but is more probably an earlier trackway. It is mentioned in a charter of 1061 describing the bounds of ottery st. Mary and also in a description of 1612. It is followed by this boundary for much of its length back to strait gate and the roman road.(rose-troup).
