Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880s, Ordnance Survey (Cartographic). SDV848.

'Grammar School' shown on OS 25" (1905) map as a large irregular L-shaped building set back to the east of Victoria Park Road.

The Exeter Free Grammar School was removed to the suburbs of Exeter in 1880. It had been founded in 1633, and had origially occupied the old buildings of St John's Hospital, in the High Street, just within the East Gate on the south side.
