Full description

Rose-Troup, F., 1939, The Anglo-Saxon Charter of Ottery St Mary, 211,220 (Article in Serial). SDV99025.

Parish boundary with Sidbury (now Sidmouth). This dates to Saxon period according to Rose-Troup in her study of the boundary clause in the charter of 1061. It also formed the medieval manor and hundred boundary. It is possible that some sort of landmark stood here at Hollow Head Cross, as there is a small indentation in the boundary line.

Exeter Archaeology, 2003, East Devon Heathlands Archaeological Survey, 21, Part 1; 145, Part 2: Gazetteer, Site No. 399 (Report - Survey). SDV101648.
