Rose-troup suggests that a crucifix existed here, at the boundary line of three parishes, where itinerant anglo-saxon priests preached the faith. This suggestion is based on a 17th century placename 'kestormealdeheade'- a corruption 'cristelmael' or crucifix (rose-troup) crf contains alternative interpretation.

It is suggested that a Saxon cross, or crucifix, existed here at the boundary of three parishes, where itinerant Anglo-Saxon priests preached. The suggestion is based on a 17th century place-name ‘Kestormealdeheade’, a corruption of ‘Cristelmael’ or crucifix. The site lies to the north of the Harpford Common survey area.
