Summary

A circular enclosure and small ring ditch to the north are visible as cropmark ditches on aerial photographs taken in 1975 and 1990, to the south of Sandford Barton, North Tawton. Two northeast-southwest aligned cropmark ditches which may be associated are also visible.

Circular enclosure visible as cropmark on cuc air photographs. Shows as a single rather thin ditch, with breaks in it on one photo, but not on another. Diameter approx 50m. Immediately to the north, a small ring ditch is visible on btr 11. Two ditches or removed field boundaries show as cropmarks running ne-sw (griffith).

An almost circular enclosure 40m in diameter is visible on aerial photos (p1). It consists of a single ditch with no visible entrances. Running from east to west on either side of the enclosure are ditched linear features that are likely to be the remains of field boundaries. These ditches are on an identical alignment to existing boundaries, and are likely to be of a far later origin than the enclosure. The sites have been digitally plotted as part of the National Mapping Programme.
