Full description
TITHE MAP, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV43410.
Limekilns marked on tithe map, and associated with the quarrying to the west. Field nos.342 and 346 (tithe map).
SEE ST01NE/9, Untitled Source (Report - Survey). SDV43411.
Vis=28/7/1982(griffiths) rectangular stone built structure on east bank of canal, and obviously built at the same time as (or slightly after) the canal (c.1840). The structure has five round-headed arches facing the water, and is buttressed on the front. Built about 1840 to allow shipment of lime to taunton via the canal (see st01ne/9)(hadfield).

Waytown limekilns. A row of five limekilns. Probably built 1810-14 for the great western canal. Limestone rubble with brick to kiln chambers, the kilns which face onto the canal having segmental-headed arches with lower arches flanked by 3 tall arches (doe).
