Full description

Reichel, O. J., 1928 - 1938, The Hundred of Tiverton in Early Times, 1, 3, 6, 11, 23, 24, 30 (Article in Monograph). SDV35420.

Higher Backswood (or Batchwood). This farm is thought to represent the survival of an estate which was a sub-manor to West Worlington (See PRN 15759) at the time of the Domesday Survey. Holders up to the 13th century are given; it was then known as Badekesworth. See PRN 18216 for Lower Backswood.
