Full description

Symonds, H., 1922 - 1923, Mints at Lundy Island and Combe Martin, 208-212 (Article in Serial). SDV3659.

Possible site of a 17th century mint. The author suggests that silver coins may have been minted at Appledore in 1645-1646 when Thomas Bushell, one of Charles I's Wardens of the Mint, commanded the garrison of Lundy Island. He thinks it is unlikely that the silver came from a local source.
