Name:Tinners building in streamworks on Swincombe River

Summary

Remains of a possible post Medieval tinner's hut situated on the upper edge of a tinners cutting on one side of a deep streamworking site. An archaeological field survey in 1989 found the structure difficult to identify but it appeared to measure about 2.2 metres square internally with traces of wall footings composed of largish boulders. The north corner is two courses high, 0.5 metres externally and 0.2 metres internally. There were no other recognisable features.

(14/09/1982) Small stone structure with internal dimensions of 2.0 metres square at the top of the bank of stream in Tor Royal newtake. Maximum height of walls 0.5 metres.

(02/04/1989) SX 62617208. This sub-square ?tinners building lies on the upper edge of a tinners cutting on one side of a deep streamworking site. It is difficult to identify but it appears to be about 2.2m square internally with traces of wall footings composed of largish boulders. The N corner is two courses high, 0.5m externally and 0.2m internally. There are no other recognisable features.
