'Crichel' is marked on the Ordnance Survey map of 1930-1939.

Masson Phillips, E. N., 1954, Supplementary Notes on the Ancient Stone Crosses of Devon (Fourth Paper), 189 (Article in Serial). SDV15725.

Crichel, Station Road, Totnes. In the grounds of this house, lying prostrate beside the boundary wall of the garden, is a slightly tapering granite shaft of octagonal section. Could be a cross-shaft, but more likely to have been a supporting pillar.

Crichel
A cross shaft formerly lay prostrate in the grounds of 'Crichel', Station Road, Totnes, beside the boundary wall of the garden. A slightly tapering granite shaft of octagonal section.
The cross shaft was removed in 1967 and used in the restoration of Drywells Cross.
