Vis=-/-/1999 (warren) contrary to the above, various machinery can still be seen including racksaw, sheep shearing machines, threshing machine and shaft for electricity generation (warren).

Warren, D., 2000, Lower House Barn and Sawmill, Branscombe (Report - Survey). SDV351904.

The barn is stone built with corrugated-iron roofing, although it can be clearly seen that the whole had originally been thatched. Probably late 18th or early 19th century. There may have been an earlier wooden waterwheel before the present one was installed in 1865, but this is doubtful. As the remains of the threshing machine pre-dates the wheel by about 20 years, it is possible this was first worked by horse-gearing. See report for full details.
