Yard farm was laierda in domesday. It was held by robert de ponte cardonis of baldwin the sheriff. Before the conquest it was held by godric.(reichel).

Yard Farm is first recorded as Laierda in the Domesday Survey of 1086. The name probably derives from the Old English word gierd meaning an area of land, usually 30 acres ie a quarter hide.
