Crackaway Barton was one of three independent manors held by three thanes in West Down before the Conquest. They were afterwards joined to the Manor of West Down or Duna. In Domesday this was held by Drogo of the Bishop of Coutances. Ralf de Pyn held Crackaway in the 1241 Testa de Nevil. Later descents given.

Small barton, now two dwellings; at least 17th century. It is surrounded by 20th century farm buildings. Believed to have been one of three independent manors held by three thanes before the Conquest, although the name is not recorded before 1241. Other details: Site 7.
