Farquharson, A., 1868, The History of Honiton. (Unknown). SDV350145.

Farquharson states in his history of Honiton that it became the present 'Crown and Sceptre'.

Deed of September 1700 shows a double alteration of a name of a Honiton inn. Formerly the 'Knacker's Hole', it was changed to the 'Mermaid'. Farquharson states in his history of Honiton that it became the present 'Crown and Sceptre'.
