Gallants bower, exeter. On tozer's map of 1793 gallants bower is marked as a rectangular plot between the longbrook and the city wall. It may have been the site of an ancient earthwork (lega-weekes). Vis=18/1/1851 (hutchinson). A reference to an earthwork called "danes castle" in northernhay may refer to this site. Diameter given as c 40m.
