Full description
Tyler, F. C., 1932-1933, Stone at Exmouth, 42, 232 (Article in Serial). SDV349782.
Stone on the roadside in Maer Road, just east of the Maer Bay Hotel. 1.75 metres high with a bevelled head. Suggested, despite comments by Abell, to be an ancient stone, although perhaps re-used.

The stone is of a red sandstone and came from the limekiln which stood at the end of the road. It was put there when the new road was built.
Salvatore, J. P., 1999, Standing Stone, Douglas Avenue (Exmouth) (Un-published). SDV348362.
Site visit 14th January 1999. A standing stone of dubious antiquity is recorded on the the east side of the former Maer Bay Hotel in Douglas Avenue. The stone could not be located. Not recommended, therefore, for scheduling.
