Summary

Kersbrook, or Parkers, East Budleigh, the site of a former water-powered grist mill. Earliest documentary reference to mill is in 1781, and it was out of operation by early 20th century. There was a small dam above the mill supplying water for overshot wheel that has now gone.

Vis10/7/1953 (os) no further information was obtained during field investigation. The site indicated is now occupied by a modern pumping station. The mill leat still exists (nmr citing os).

Kersbrook, or parkers, east budleigh, the site of a former water-powered grist mill. Earliest documentary reference to mill is in 1781, and it was out of operation by early 20th century. There was a small dam above the mill supplying water for overshot wheel that has now gone. All that remains is a converted dwelling (phillips + wilson).

'kersbrooke mills' were described in 1827 as grist and flour mills with two pairs of millstones and a dressing mill. An undershot water wheel was mentioned in 1871 although later mention was of an overshot wheel (bodman).

Kersbrook or Parkers. Site of water powered grist mill. Documented 1781. Plot called Mill Garden and Waste on Tithe Map/Tithe Apportionment (Tithe Apportionment No. 626). Mill shown on Ordnance Survey 1891 map with leat running to it from mill pond to west; pond still shown on modern map. Tidwell Mill site lies some 400m to North.
