MONTAGUE, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV17197.

Bishop's park. Boundaries uncertain but entrance said to be at the end of park street and bounded on the north side by high street and on the south by the river yeo. Placenames in the area include park, lower park and great park (montague).

GALLANT, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV943.

According to lysons the manor + hundred of crediton belonged to the bishop of devonshire who had a palace there until 1080. In the c16 bishop veysey conveyed the park to sir thomas dennis. The manor, hundred + park were all restored to the see + conveyed by bishop babington in 1595 to william killigrew (gallant).
