Full description

Reichel, O. J., 1928 - 1938, The Hundred of Shebbear in Early Times, 535,548,552,583 (Article in Monograph). SDV7713.

Newton St. Petrock was Nieutona in Domesday. The manor was originally part of the royal demense of Shebbear. At the conquest it was held of the king by the priests of Bodmin, to whom it had probably been given by their original founder athelstan in 936. Early descents given.
