The Newton Abbot Electricity Generating Station was owned by the Urban Electric Supply Company. It was taken over the the Torquay Corporation in 1922 and re-opened in 1924. Since enlarged and still (1938-1942) in use.

The main elements of the power station were recorded at the time of the demolition of the cooling tower in the early 1970s.
