Summary

At shaugh prior there was a medieval estate recorded in the domesday survey as escaga. Also known as over shaugh as distinct from nether shaugh. Before 1155 it came into the possession of plympton priory in whose hands it remained until the dissolution. In 1285 it was recorded as giving its name to a tithing in the hundred of plympton (reichel).
