The weir below Hunts (=Hunters) Tor provides water for the Turbine House generating electricity for Castle Drogo.

(01/12/2004 - 01/02/2005) A survey of the hydroelectric works at Castle Drogo was undertaken in 2005. The stone-faced concrete weir was built in the late 1920s across the River Teign c360m upsteam of the Turbine House with an integral fish pass. At the southeast end of the weir a cast iron inlet chamber 2.21m x 1.6m has a sluicegate at the west end & a concrete pipe takes the water to the holding tank at the generating plant. Most of the 362m of pipe is buried but c86m following the curving course of the river is exposed.
