Snell, W. W., 1875, The History of Chudleigh (Revised edition of Jones, 1852) (Monograph). SDV338125.

Snell refers to the Bishop's Mill.

Palace Mill is marked as a Corn Mill and shown as a large T-shaped building to the north-west of Kate Brook with a leat to the north-east.

The wheel remains.

Palace Mill stands on the site of the original Bishop's Mill. Rubble stone building under a hipped slate roof. Still has a waterwheel (citing DoE 1952).

Snell refers to the Bishop's flour mill, saying that it is only a few years since the ancient flour mill was pulled down and a new house built on the site. This is believed to have been at Palace Mill Farm

Bodman, M., 2003, Watermills and Other Water-Powered Sites in Devon, 287-288 (Report - Interim). SDV325576.

Palace or Place Grist Mill is documented in 1794. In 1859 it consisted of a house, mill, barn, stable, outhouses, garden and four small orchards. In 1989 the converted mill buildings and house were sold as residential units.
