Down Town Cross. Turnpike stone, where road from Lydford joins the highway. Inscribed 'End of Okehampton Trust'.
Jenkinson, T., 2005 - 2008, A386 Tavistock to Okehampton (Report - Survey). SDV323813.
The route of the A386 was jointly managed by the Tavistock and Okehampton Turnpike Trusts, the changeover taking place near the Dartmoor Inn at Lydford. A large End of Trust stone reported as being on site near the Inn in 1986 by Dave Brewer has not been located in recent times. The stone may well be there but this stretch of road is very dangerous.
