Full description

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1977, SX66SE93 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV172160.

(28/07/1977) At SX 66906132. A cairn situated north-west of and close to the long barrow. It consists of a turf-covered mound, diameter 7.0 metres and height 0.3 metres with five stones of a possible retaining circle in situ. There is a depression in the centre revealing a stone resembling the east end stone of a cist. Surveyed at 1:10 000 on P.F.D.

Ball Gate. A small barrow adjacent to the long barrow. It lies 10.0 metres from the north west end of the long barrow. The hollow centre is approximately at ground level 6.0 metres diameter with several large granite stones showing in the ring. The remainder is turf covered.

Visible on 1985 aerial photograph. Vis=28/7/1977 (os). A cairn situated north west of and close to the long barrow consists of a turf covered mound, diameter 7m and height 0.3m with five stones of a possible retaining circle in situ. There is a depression in the centre revealing a stone resembling the east end stone of a cist (os). Vis=estimated -/-/1990 (ancient monuments). Cairn. A mound of earth and stone 6m in diameter and 0.3m high with a retaining circle of which 6 stones remain in-situ, just breaking the turf. Central hollow reveals the possible e endslab of a cist (am).
