Full description
Lawson, M. D., 1982, Spinster's Rock and its prehistoric context (Undergraduate Dissertation). SDV238218.
A survey of two features pointed out as 'prehistoric circles' by the residents of Shilstone House in 1982. The features lie 8.0 metres apart. The first is a tree-ring, and is probably the 'barrow' noted by L. J. Taylor (see MDV8461). The second circle is an ellipse of 9 granite stones, plus outliers; diameter 22.0 metres by 16.0 metres. The feature lies on a slight terrace at the crest of the ridge, and could possibly be a ruined prehistoric circle.
