Summary

Western enclosures at settlement on Giant's Hill of at least four elements with eight hut circles. The enclosures are largely complete and vary in size from 0.04 hectares to 0.2 hectares. They are bounded by broad stony banks up to 2.0 metres wide and 0.6 metres high. There are no identifiable entrances to these features.

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1977, SX56NE94 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV159655.

(23/06/1977) An enclosed settlement consisting of three separate enclosures and one hut situated on a moderate, well drained, west facing slope at 340 metres above OD.
Enclosure A (SX 5948 6681). An enclosure 75 metres by 40 metres and 0.3 hectares in area bounded by a wall 1.5 metres thick formed of small boulders. It is in poor condition and probably of at least 2 phases having been extended to the south west. An earlier phase may be represented by walling within the upper part which also contains 5 Type 1 huts. Their average internal diameter is 3.5 metres with walls 1 metre thick and they also are in poor condition. Two huts are built into the line of the wall and 3 are built against it. The lower part contains a 'D' shaped hut in poor condition 4.5 metres by 3 metres built against the enclosure wall. Surveyed at 1:10 000 on PFD.

The enclosures are largely complete and vary in size from 0.04 hectares to 0.2 hectares. They are bounded by broad stony banks up to 2.0m wide and 0.6m high. There are no identifiable entrances to these features.
