(24/08/1989) SX 63497934 Probable Hut circle.
Levelled into a gentle N facing slope in an apparently cleared area of rough grassland about 400m OD on Chittaford Down is an irregular annular bank of turf covered stones about 1m wide 0.2m high. Overall diameters are 7m N-S by 6.2m.
The irregularity of the inner face of the bank suggests a robbed cairn but no stone was found on probing the centre.
A slight hollow or lowering of the bank in the E may be due to robbing but might represent an entrance to what is probably a mutilated hut circle.
