Full description

Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV1142.

Vis=1/6/1986 (clarke) low circular barrow, diameter 6m, height 0.4m. Ground slopes slightly to the ne (worksheet).

Vis=estimated -/-/1991 (wardle). Diameter c 5m, height 0.2m (wardle).

Vis=15/4/1982 (os) one of two turf mounds found after the swaleing of gittisham hill in march 1982. Barrow d. A circular mound 0.25m high, 5.5m diameter. No ditch but a faint bank linking it with barrow e, possibly representing the old ground surface prior to the turf-stripping for their construction (osa).

One of two small barrows (see also site 316) located towards hilltop on gentle northeast slope. Mound 5.2 metres northeast-southwest by 5.7 metres northwest- southeast by 0.25 metre high. Cattle track is damaging northeast side of mound. No sign of possible bank linking the two barrows as mentioned in SMR 1982.
