Smith, J., 2023, Sourton Down, Okehampton: Metal Detection (Report - Survey). SDV365601.
This report describes the results of the non intrusive metal detecting survey carried out on an area around Sourton Down, Devon. The site is part of the route of a proposed water pipeline between Northcombe Water Treatment Works and the Prewley Water Treatment Works, on Prewley Moor. The Metal Detecting Survey produced 59 metal artefacts and 1 non metallic find and 1 possible Medieval coin. The majority of finds were Post Medieval in date and represented by horseshoes and agricultural implements. No musket balls or pieces of lead associated with the Battle of Sourton Down were detected on site. See report for full list of artefacts.
