Unknown, 1841, Ermington (Cartographic). SDV340936.

The Ermington Tithe Map and Apportionment show field nos 499 and 507 called 'Lower Quarry Park' and 'Higher Quarry Park' suggesting former quarrying in this area.

Oval and irregularly shaped pits, between 20m and 90m long, are visible as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The visible earthworks do not correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map, or on later available historic maps, although quarrying is indicated in this area by place name evidence on the Tithe Apportionment. The earthworks are therfore interpreted as possible post-medieval or early 19th century quarries which had likely passed out of use by the mid-19th century. The earthworks are not visible on other available aerial imagery owing to tree cover.
