Name:New Deancombe Farmhouse

Summary

Remains of the deserted New Deancombe Farmhouse, built in 1858 by Sir Massey Lopes on the site of a 14th century farmstead. Several 19th century farm buildings were added to the eastern end of the farm and some of the older western buildings remained in use as outbuildings until the farm was abandoned in around 1922.

Farmhouse is depicted on the late 19th century historic map.

Deancombe (new) A fine large farmhouse, probably the best in the Burrator area. Well built, stuccoed, with large brick arched windows facing south, porch and outside lavatory. The west wall stands to the gable; east to bedroom ceiling height; south to top of lower windows; north collapsed.
Deserted around 1922.
