Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Long range adjoining the farmhouse and forming the north side of the farmyard. The west end is at an angle to the east.

Timms, S., 1981, Old Bridwell (Personal Comment). SDV366027.

Site visit 14th April 1981. A long range of outbuildings in cob and stone on the north side of the farmyard of at least two main phases. There are proposals to convert these buildings to living accommodation.

Range of farm buildings adjoining west of Old Bridwell Farmhouse. Circa C18. Long range of stables and haylofts and barn. Cob and stone rubble construction. Asbestos sheet roof with gabled end. The east end is lower and at an obtruse angle to the west end. Full height cart doors to barn. Stable door, wood mullion windows and loft doors. Stone rubble gable end to west facing road. This range encloses the north side of the farmyard and has group value with the other buildings at Bridwell Farm. Listed at Grade II.

There are two large barns at Old Bridwell with joionted crucks and high quality cart entrances with depressed 4-centred heads.
